We Don't Do This Alone

We Don't Do This Alone

We Don’t Do This Alone

Hello friends,

Today I want to share something that’s been sitting with me.

Recently, my book was published. About 30 copies have already been sold, and while that still feels a little surreal, what’s mattered most to me isn’t the number.

It’s the people.

I couldn’t have done this without the support of so many friends — the kind of friends who hold you accountable, guide you, gently push you forward, and then offer a safety net when things don’t go exactly as planned.

Because let’s be honest — there were moments of excitement…
and moments of doubt…
and moments where I wondered if I had met my own expectations.

And that made me think.

If I needed that kind of support to write and publish a book — imagine what it feels like for the individuals we support every day.

As an Occupational Therapist, I work with adults who experience their own highs and lows. They navigate frustration, change, uncertainty, and moments of joy — just like we do. And often, they rely on caregivers, family members, and support staff to help them move forward.

We are all doing hard things.

We are all learning as we go.

And none of us are meant to do this alone.

I see it in my own life, and I see it in the lives of the people I support. Progress doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in community. It happens through encouragement, patience, reflection, and sometimes just having someone sit beside you when things feel heavy.

I also want to acknowledge the caregivers, the direct support professionals, the families, and the friends who show up every day — even when they’re tired, even when they’re unsure, even when they don’t feel appreciated.

Your presence matters more than you may realize.

And maybe that’s the message I want to leave you with today.

Who supports you?

Who do you support?

And how can we continue to walk this journey together — sharing the ups and downs, the twists and turns, and the small victories along the way?

If this work feels like your calling, even in a quiet way, please know that you’re not alone. We’re learning together. We’re growing together. And every step forward counts.

Thank you for being here with me today.

Until next time — stay tuned… stop, pause, think, dream… and then consider.

And, I will leave you with a reflection from the book - The Weight of Second

What's one lesson or value that you carry forward from someone in your life? How does it show up in what you do today?
